aside from ridiculous haircuts and “add me” bulletins.. there’s far more annoying things spreading throughout the myspace community. Tom has posted bulletins, online news sites have posted articles, friends warning friends, but the problem is still around and more annoying than ever. not just annoying but a major security threat! although it sounds bad, there’s a few SIMPLE steps you can take to prevent getting your passwords jacked and having some retard post things from your account.

Step 1.
Download & Install Firefox!!!

Step 2.
DO NOT LOGIN TO FAKE MYSPACE PAGES! there is no one to blame but yourself for this one.

if you happen to see this:

pay attention!

PAY ATTENTION!!
do NOT log into this page unless it is really a myspace login page.. make SURE it says http://login.myspace.com and not some other crap like myspace.l0ginp4ge.com. once again.. PAY FUCKING ATTENTION!!

Step 3.
EDIT: myspace appears to have fixed the .mov exploit :)
there is an exploit that people are using to redirect you to password stealing pages through quicktime movies.. there’s a super easy temporary (until myspace fixes it) solution to this. just adblock .mov files. so how do you do that? oh.. read on..

- assuming you have followed through with step one, download & install the firefox extension Adblock Plus.

then follow these steps to add the filter to block quicktime movies:
>> click Tools >> Adblock >> Preferences.
>> click the “Add Filter” button.
>> type http://*.mov in the box and press enter.
>> click “Apply” to add the filter
>> click “OK” to save & exit

- the downside to this is that it will block EVERY quicktime movie on the internet.. so when you want to view a movie trailer or some other video that is getting blocked, just disable adblock & refresh the page. but don’t forget to re-enable adblock before you get back to your myspace addiction!

i have made another post about blocking other crap on myspace that makes it way faster.. you can read about it here.
