i was having a few problems with the database so the site was spitting out errors more than a hillbilly spits watermelon seeds. I think i fixed a few of the problems but i KNOW there’s still a few more that i’m currently fixing right now.
1. tags and archives are unavailable.
2. contact page is non-existent.
3. homepages downloaded instead of installing through greasemonkey
3. blah blah… if you notice something that doesn’t work or isn’t there.. let me know so i can fix it!
Myspace has implemented a new “security” measure to stop spammers and phishers in their tracks. There’s quite a few downsides to this for us regular users, one being you can’t look at the web address in the status bar of your browser to know what the hell you’re clicking because it’s being redirected through msplinks.com with a bunch of base-64 encoding after it. boo! Example below.

So this is the first of soon to be many “Randumb Downloads”.. Every so often when I come across a completely free awesome application, I’ll let you know all about it and where to get it.
RocketDock
RocketDock is a smoothly animated, alpha blended application launcher. It provides a nice clean interface to drop shortcuts on for easy access and organization. With each item completely customizable there is no end to what you can add and launch from the dock.
Now with added Taskbar support your minimized windows can appear as icons on the dock. This allows for better productivity and accessibility.

After so many of my friends asked me “how do I? & where do I?” questions.. I decided to type this up so I can send you a link rather than talk on the phone for 30 minutes.. This “how-to” will explain how to download and search for torrents. So what is a torrent? Without getting too technical, it’s free shit. If you really care enough beyond that point.. do a google search.
First things first, you need a BitTorrent Client (program to download torrent files). I personally use uTorrent but there are MANY others that I have yet to make a comparison with, I get the fastest speeds with uTorrent so I’ll recommend it.

After you download and install uTorrent, you’re ready to start searching for goodies to download! I use 2 search engines to search for torrent files:
Hiding your last login is pretty easy but it also hides all your other info above it (age, gender, city, state). With this code, you can hide your last login or replace it with any text you want.. like “Today”, “Yesterday”, “Tom doesn’t care about me”, or just simply change the date, who cares what it is! Just look at the example.
These Wordpress plugin lists are all over the web (like Firefox extension lists) and all depend on personal preference. But lists like the one below are the reason I have discovered the majority of my plugins in use, so hopefully you’ll find this as helpful as the others have been for me.

If you’re pretty amazed about the speed difference from the last whack ass host I had *cough*dreamhost*cough* and are currently searching like a madman around forums to find a great host (as did I). 2. Umm.. New layout? yup. I’m using the wordpress theme Redoable. But as you can tell it’s just a wee bit different (took me over a week to get it this far!?). I’m not completely finished with it yet, but I hope it gives the vibe I was going for. So if you’re also on the market for a new theme for your blog.. there you go.
3. New members forum. It’s like comparing a blu-ray disc to an old wrinkly vhs tape.. yeah like that.

I’ve always used custom visual styles or windowblinds to de-ugly Windows XP.. The downside to that is on slower machines, it impacts performance. Especially Windowblinds (aside from the fact it isn’t free)! This kinda sucks for us poor kids who can’t afford the beauty of a Mac, but.. there’s a quick (free) way to change the entire look of XP to spunk it up a wee bit without slowing things down to a crawl. Check it.

Member Forum - I don’t know what you’ve heard about the “codes” that get posted on this site, but inside the Member Forum is where you’re gonna find them ;) It’s a measly 10 bucks for 12 months of unlimited access. If you had any idea how much time I’ve put into this website you’d think i was buck-nutty out of my mind for only charging so little for a full year. Pretty much anything goes in the forum so don’t be shy to ask questions that haven’t been answered anywhere else! For more details, please check out Member Information.
Experimental Speed - Today (maybe longer) I’m going to activate a cache system for the site. This should make pages load with the quickness! But there’s a few kinks I need to work out before I use this system permanently.. For one, the number of “users joyboner’n now!” will be completely off. Two, the “tents pitched” (total views) won’t go up for shit, and the individual post views raise about as much as grandpa’s co… yeah you get the point. But site statistics aren’t as important as making the site faster and more enjoyable for everyone! small sacrifices… see I love you guys!
update: totally didn’t work right and screwed up membership payments and logins :/
Still On The “To-do” list:
- Make a better front page with a login box, updates, featured profile, huge tag cloud, recent posts, maybe a poll, affiliate buttons, pffft! a whole lot of crap. Any more ideas would be fantastic, let me know what you think!
- Keep saving for a bigger & better hosting plan. This will eliminate the need for caching system and speed things up ridiculous! We’re talking a LOT of money though for a dedicated server.. right now it’s hard enough to pay the internet bill let alone food!
- Possibly make a.. oooh that one’s too good to announce yet! hopefully sooner than later..
