sometimes firefox can get messed up (conflicting extensions, playing with settings, who knows what else..). whenever i have an irritating problem that i can’t seem to fix i simply make a new firefox profile. this is super easy and solves 90% of the usual problems. i’ll take some screenshots just in case you get lost. weee!
Step 1.
- Right click on the firefox shortcut (on the desktop or quick launch)
Step 2.
- go to “Properties”
Step 3.
- in the “Target” box..
- ADD “ -p” at the end of the box (there is a space before the -p!)
- the whole string should look something like the picture below.
Step 4.
- click “Apply” and then “OK”
Step 5.
- click the firefox icon to launch firefox an this box will pop up.
- click “Create Profile” & follow directions..
Step 6.
- now once you’ve created your new profile, select it:
- click Start Firefox!
Step 7.
- remove the ” -p” from step 3 to keep the profile box from popping up.
* i’ll write a tutorial on how to transfer your bookmarks and saved passwords over to the new profile very soon :)

i did everything right and when i click apply it says its invalid :(
hmmm so i added a space and it let me apply it. but now when i click the launch icon it doesnt pop up with that new profile thing
wooo, i figured it out another way.
start> run> firefox.exe -ProfileManager
the fire fox issue im having is w/ nested anchor tags.
check out my dev profile [url]http://myspace.com/_____xero[/url] im using hover spans that appear on mouse over. so the hover happens w/ a link tag, then the style is applyed to the span w/in that anchor. but any other a’s nested w/in that dont appear (look at my comment box, NO LINKS!) lol.
Yo Drew, how did you make your “- + x” buttons on the left side? I tried making that shit on the left but it wouldn’t work! How the F?!

I cannot get Firefox to fire :~(. When I click on the icon, or on the icon for Mozilla, an instantaneous flash of program appears, then disappears, and the shortcut icon greys. I have uninstalled and installed repeatedly. I tried the “profile” workaround suggested, but I cannot get Firefox to execute, so I can’t alter the profile. Help! I am without Firefox and Mozilla and I love them!

PS They both worked until I did some fussing–I don’t know what–but I must have changed a setting somewhere… :(
eek! well i don’t know what you did so i don’t really know how to fix it.. but i had a similar problem when i tried to move my profile folder to a jumpdrive. i think i used the alternate way to change my profile and made a new one. it’s the other method that joe pointed out.
start> run> firefox.exe -ProfileManager
Thanks, Drew. But there is no ‘run’ command on my Start page (I am running Windows XP), so I can’t execute Firefox in that way. And I can’t use Joe’s method because after I put the -p in and try to open Firefox, the thing won’t execute, so I can’t create a new profile! BTW Mozilla does exactly the same thing. I sure wish I could figure this out so I could use Firefox again.

I thought mozilla was supposed to allow me to see privae myspace profiles but so far it hasnt. Can you mail me sometime and tell me what I’m doing wrong. I clicked view and no style everything and those 2 things one with a monkey and something else no longer works either
Someone has hacked into my profile!! I don’t know how to delete groups that says, “invalid group” please try again (I have two of them). Also I have noticed that it says that I have 1-5 groups when it should say 1-2 groups(2 in which I’m trying to delete). When I go to “ACCOUNT SETTINGS” and choose the option “GROUP SETTINGS” it says error on page. I have deleted all cookies and cache stored in my computer. Since I have last logged on I first noticed picture I have chosen for default is hidden. I don’t know what that means too. Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.
this is such an inconvenience!! why does the top of my page on “EDIT PROFILE” say: warning- …I should be exercising caution when posting personally identifiable information (of course in small print). The only information I’ve been sending were word and picture comments. this only started when my myspace was hacked into this week. I’ve deleted all my layout codes and pictures from my profile because I thought by starting out from scratch would get rid of it. No, i was wrong. I have changed my password 8 times this week. Again, i would appreciate your assistance.
I can’t download firefox on my mac. Any help please?

I had to do this procedure because for some reason, firefox wanted to load MOBILE pages instead of the normal sites. I don’t know why it started doing that, but I couldn’t find any way to fix that (if anyone knows, please tell me so I can go back to my normal profile because starting up a whole new one SUCKS).
If I HAVE to use this new profile, can someone tell me how to transfer my bookmarks from the old one, or any other stuff I used to use? I’m really hating this.. :(
